Freightliner LLC said its Sterling Truck Corp. and Western Star Trucks dealer networks have seen rapid growth in the past 18 months.

John Merrifield, senior vp of sales & marketing for both Sterling and Western Star, said Sterling's dealer network has grown more than 30% and Western Star's by more than 35%.

Merrifield said Sterling has added more than 90 new U.S. and Canada locations, bringing the total number of sales, parts and service locations across the Sterling network to more than 300.

"As the Sterling business continues to grow, so do the needs of our Sterling customers," Merrifield said.

Merrifield said Western Star has added more than 70 new dealer locations.

"We have said previously that we intend to significantly grow the Western Star brand in the U.S. and Canada," said Merrifield. "Expanding our dealer network is a key part of that strategy."
