September truck sales up 27.9% over a year ago

Franchised dealers of U.S. truck manufacturers sold 733,411 units in September 2003 –- an increase of 27.9% over sales for the month a year ago-- according to data published by Ward's Communications. The year-to-date sales are up 16.1%.

Class 7 showed the biggest gain (40%, from 4390 to 6144), followed by Class 1 (35%, 351,735 to 475,178).

Class 6 was down 9.3% (from 4527 to 4106). Class 8 (4.4%, from 13,502 to 12,902) was the only other class in decline.
