Revenues rise at U.S. Xpress

U.S. Xpress Enterprises Inc. said today that its 3Q operating revenues, revenues and net income grew vs. the same period last year.

The carrier's operating revenues increased 8.3% to $238.3 million, and revenues increased 9.2% to $690.9 million. Its net income for the quarter was $2.7 million, compared with net income of $1.1 million the same period last year.

For the first nine months of 2003, the company reported net income of $5 million, compared with net income of $577,000 for the prior-year period. The first nine months of 2002 included a non-cash charge for the early extinguishment of debt of approximately $1.1 million.
