Retail truck sales up 15% in January

Franchised dealers of U.S. truck manufacturers sold 654,205 units in January 2004 -- an increase of 15.8% above sales for the month a year ago -- according to data published by Ward's Communications.

Every class showed an increase. Class 6 showed the biggest gain — 74.3%, going from 3,494 to 6,090. Class 3 showed the smallest gain — 5.1% (5,934 to 6,238).
