Retail truck sales—particularly those for commercial use—continued to strengthen in April, according to figures compiled by Wards Communications, a sister company of Trailer/Body Builders.

Compared with April 2001, here is how retail truck sales fared in April 2002: Class 1, up 7%; Class 2, up 16%; Class 3, up 3%; Class 4, down 17%; Class 5, up 18%; Class 6, up 19%; Class 7, up 1%, and Class 8, down 7%.

Sales have increased almost every month of 2002 in Classes 3-8 (gross vehicle weight ratings above 10,000 pounds). The only exceptions have been Class 3 (down from March) and Class 6 (down in February).
