Peterbilt, Cummins team on EGR warranty

Aug 20, 2002 12:00 PM

Peterbilt Motors Co. and Cummins Inc. are providing complimentary extended coverage for exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) engines installed in Peterbilt heavy-duty conventional vehicles. Cummins is using EGR to meet EPA emissions standards that take effect October 1.

The extended coverage applies only to Cummins ISX-EGR and ISM-EGR engines installed in Peterbilt Model 387, 385, 379, 378 and 357 trucks. On-highway coverage includes five years or 500,000 miles on all major components. Vocational coverage includes five years or 150,000 miles on all major components.

Peterbilt gm Nick Panza added that the company is also offering discounts on other components, such as its FLEX Air suspension, proprietary aluminum wheels, and Eaton transmissions, to help offset customer concerns about the impact engines certified for the new standards may have on trucking operations.
