June truck sales up 14%

Franchised dealers of U.S. truck manufacturers sold 813,801 units in June 2003 -- a 14.1% increase over sales for the month a year ago -- according to data published by Ward's Communications. Classes 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6 all showed double-digit gains, led by Class 5 (25.4%). Class 7 (-5.9%) and Class 8 (-1.8%) were the only groups to show a decline. The year-to-date increase is 13.8%, led by Class 6 (21.5%).
