International adds FreedomLine transmission

Apr 5, 2002 12:00 PM

ZF Meritor LLC announced that International Truck and Engine Corp. will now offer ZF Meritor’s FreedomLine automated mechanical transmission on International 9200i, 9400i, 9900i and 9900ix truck models.

According to ZF Meritor, the FreedomLine boasts a “no clutch pedal” design that is easier for drivers to learn and operate than competitive three-pedal automated transmissions.

“This is a significant step in further strengthening what has been for many years a solid relationship with International,” noted Rick Martello, ZF Meritor president.

“International clearly recognizes the changing demographics in the driver pool and understands the impact this technology will have on the industry,” he added.
