GM leads August truck sales

Retail sales figures for August show that GM led all major manufacturers, totaling 278,927 units. GM was led by Chevrolet (189,390), with GMC contributing 59,418. Ford, however, remained the top-selling pickup, with 211,067 units -- 203,290 units coming in the two categories below 10,000 GVW. DaimlerChrysler was third overall at 176,374, with 84,742 Dodge, 51,603 Jeep and 27,968 Chrysler.
