Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp. (FCCC) has announced that 2004 model Mercedes-Benz MBE900 diesel engines will be standard on MT-45 SR Walk-in Van chassis applications starting the first quarter of 2004.

"The Mercedes-Benz MBE900 engine offers excellent performance, fuel economy, weight savings, quiet operation and reliability," said Joe Snyder, product manager, commercial chassis, for FCCC.

FCCC said the four-cylinder engine, which provides 170 hp and 420 lb. ft torque, is ideal for use in walk-in van applications including parcel delivery, snack food/bakery, laundry, utilities and emergency service.

The engines combine advanced electronic controls, sophisticated fuel injection and extended maintenance cycles to provide an ideal solution for numerous walk-in van applications.
