Dana CEO Magliochetti dies

Dana Corp. president, chairman & CEO Joseph M. Magliochetti died last night after a short bout with pancreatitis. The company said Magliochetti, 61, had been hospitalized since September 11, when he had a gallstone removed.

Magliochetti was named president & CEO of Dana in 1999, and became the company's chairman the following year. He began his career in 1966 with Victor Manufacturing Company of Chicago, and stayed with the company when Dana purchased it the following year.

Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) president & CEO Chris Bates called Magliochetti, "a driving force in the advancement of the motor vehicle products industry."

"His many contributions to industry education, to improved industry management practices and to enhancement of our industry’s positive role in society were remarkable," Bates said of Magliochetti, who was MEMA's chairman in 2000 and 2001.

Magliochetti is survived by his wife, Kathy; three children; and one grandchild.
