August retail truck sales up 21% over a year ago

Franchised dealers of U.S. truck manufacturers sold 796,657 units in August 2002 -- an increase of 21.2% over the same month a year ago -- according to data published by Ward's Communications. The biggest increases came in Class 2 (35.2%) and Class 8 (23.1%), while the biggest drops came in Class 7 (33.4%) and Class 4 (18.7%).
