Two Truck Associations Combine Under One Name

The Engine Manufacturers Association, which includes the Truck
Manufacturers Association, announced that the two groups will now function under just one name: the Truck
and Engine Manufacturers Association.
“The
name change … reflects the reality of how we have been
doing business for some time,” said Jed Mandel, president. “Our board
recognized the importance of combining our identity since we have
integrated engine and truck issues in our activities. As demonstrated by
the recently completed EPA
and NHTSA greenhouse gas and fuel efficiency rulemaking,
engine and truck regulatory issues are becoming increasingly
intertwined, and the name
Truck and Engine Manufacturers Assn. better communicates the scope of
our activities. We will continue to represent our members that
manufacture engines used in non-road mobile and stationary sources in
the same manner as we have in the past."
Other
than changing the way association is referred to in public
and regulatory settings, no other changes are anticipated. Association
and staff contact information will remain the same, he said.
In keeping a link to its past and tradition, the Truck and Engine
Manufacturers Assn. will use a modified version of the familiar "ema" logo and will continue to use the initials “EMA.”
The
association represents worldwide manufacturers of internal
combustion engines and on-highway medium- and heavy-duty trucks. EMA
works with government and industry to help the nation achieve its goals
of cleaner air and safer highways, and to ensure that environmental and
safety standards and regulations are technologically
feasible, cost-effective, and provide safety and environmental benefits.
