Medium and Heavy Truck Sales Up 9% in February

Medium and heavy truck sales were up 9% in February over the same period a year ago, according to figures compiled by Wards Communications.
Dealers sold 23,397 trucks with GVW ratings above 10,000 pounds during the month, up from February 2009 (21,450) and down 2% over January 2010 (23,980).
Compared with February 2009, Class 8 trucks were up by 19% (7,427, compared to 6,236). Class 7 sales were 2,771, down 15% on the 3,272 sold in February 2009.
Only two other classes were down compared to February 2009: Class 4 (33%) and Class 5 (13%). Class 6 experienced the largest gain (26%).
Total truck sales were up 9% (394,093) over February 2009 and up 4% for the year (715,897).
