Vauxhall wins $293 million van deal

Vauxhall has won a three-year order for 16,000 vans from telecoms giant BT — an order Vauxhall says is one of its biggest van deals ever and reportedly is worth about $293 million at recommended retail prices, according to CV News Brief.

Discounts will drop the total, but it is still a huge order and comes with an option for BT to extend the three-year contract for another two years.

BT runs perhaps the biggest independently owned fleet in England, with 45,000 vehicles including 13,000 light vans, 16,300 medium and heavy vans and 11,200 cars. The firm will buy three models from Vauxhall – the 1.3CDTi Corsavan and Combo and the 1.9CDTi SWB standard roof Vivaro – to meet its needs over the next three years.

BT’s head of fleet supply, Peter Howard, said “the main reason for our decision to switch to Vauxhall was the fact that their vehicles offered the best whole life costs.”
