Truck sales gaining in Canada

Apr 20, 2004 2:08 PM

Statistics Canada, Canada’s government bureau, reported brisk truck sales in February, citing a 13.8% increase over January to 66,337 trucks sold.

The truck segment includes minivans, sport-utility vehicles, light- and heavy-trucks, and buses.

Overall, Statistics Canada reported a 7.7% increase in motor vehicle sales. The truck segment was primarily responsible for the boost, with passenger cars showing a more modest increase of 2.5%.

However, truck sales for February 2004 were still 6% lower than in February 2003. The report noted truck sales have shown more stability compared with passenger vehicles.
