City of San Antonio updates its fleet with Sterling trucks

Jan 14, 2005 9:01 AM

Sterling Truck Corporation announced that the city of San Antonio recently added more than 30 Sterling trucks to its fleet. The city has purchased 51 Sterling trucks since the beginning of 2004 in an effort to replace its older vehicles.

Running an assortment of Sterling L-Line tractors and Acterra trucks, the city will use the vehicles for a variety of maintenance purposes, from picking up brush and debris to laying asphalt.

The recent purchase included four Acterras with Cat C7 engines and 33 L-Line tractors and trucks with Cat C7 and Detroit Diesel Series 60 engines. Knuckle-boom cranes were added to several L-Line tractors used for brush removal; and roll-off bodies, used by the city for the first time, were added to several tractors to load brush and other debris.

The city has been purchasing trucks from Grande Truck Center in San Antonio for 30 years, where the dealer has had a relationship with Sterling since in 1998.
