SMR acquires DuaLift hoist line

Jun 2, 2006 10:07 AM

SMR Investments has acquired Refuse Parts LLC, manufacturers of the patent pending DuaLift and KwikLift container hoist systems. SMR, a private investment company, also owns RPI of Indiana Inc., a manufacturer of front load containers, and Cooper Tank and Welding Corp., Brooklyn, New York, which makes roll-off containers.

The DuaLift hoist, introduced in 2005, can service both hooklift type roll-off containers and cable hoist containers. Conversion of the hoist to handle one or the other type of container takes only a few minutes and can be done by the operator on route. The KwikLift is the cable version of the hoist without the hooklift mechanism, which can later be retrofitted if desired.

According to Del Cochran, director of business development for Cooper Tank, “We believe our 50 years of experience in the waste industry and the combined resources of this group will provide a strong foundation to support the development of the DuaLift and KwikLift business in the future. Our goal is to help Refuse Parts supply the industry with a quality product based around progressive technology, and to offer a responsive installation service with strong technical support to an expanding customer base. “We look forward to working with the dealer network and suppliers who have supported Refuse Parts through their initial growing stages,” Cochran added. “We are excited about the growth potential for this acquisition based on the enthusiasm and quality of the management, the innovative nature of the product, and a genuine opportunity for cost savings and efficiency gains for our customers.” For more information about the DuaLift and KwikLift hoist systems, contact Mark Mikelait or Dick Williams at Refuse Parts, LLC, 419-468-5095.
