Franchised dealers of U.S. truck manufacturers sold 907,154 units in July—a 12% increase over June—according to data published by Ward's Communications.

The growth, however, was all on the light end. Class 1 trucks were up 14%, and Class 2 trucks increased 9%. Dealers sold 602,223 Class 1 trucks and 261,322 Class 2 trucks during the month.

Class 7 and 8 trucks, the only other GVW classes to post gains, rose 4% and 1% respectively.

Class 5 trucks took the biggest hit, down 18% for the month (2,749 trucks sold).
