Diesel up 6.6 cents to $2.798

The national average price for a gallon of diesel rose 6.6 cents to $2.798 last week after responding to market fears surrounding Hurricane Rita.

The Midwest region saw the sharpest incline as prices jumped 9.1 cents to average $2.739. Despite this, the Midwest region averaged the cheapest diesel. California remained the most expensive region in which to fill up, even after posting the largest price drop at 2.9 cents to $3.031.
