Trailer Orders Up 30% in August: ACT

Sept. 29, 2014
Both new and net trailer orders posted gains of 30% month-over-month in August.

Both new and net trailer orders posted gains of 30% month-over-month in August, according to the most recent “State of the Industry: U.S. Trailers,” published by ACT Research Co. (ACT).

Frank Maly, director of CV Transportation Analysis and Research at ACT, said  25,191 net orders were posted last month.

“Strength was widespread,” he said, “with nine of ten trailer categories showing month-over-month and year-over-year growth.”

Maly said that low cancellations indicated that fleet commitments were solid.

“Conditions for the industry remain a strong and solid ‘green,’ ” he said.
