No modifications were made to either the trailer or the rollover. The firm placed 2“ × 6“ × 5' steel tubes between the tandems to keep the sling away from suspension components. The system is a powered (air or electric) drive unit and an idler, both with nylon slings.
The Stewart beam rollover is a five-ton-capacity unit that may be employed in two ways:
- Using two hoists with one drive unit and one idler unit near the ends of the beam.
- Using one hoist with one drive unit positioned at the center of the beam.
Shop air may be disconnected, allowing for beams to be moved throughout the crane bay.
The Stewart beam rollover is capable of rolling tapered beams and other odd weldments. Sealed bearings and an air filter-lubricator for the air motor provide virtually maintenance-free operation. Slings are easily connectable and have a tough wear layer of material on both sides for long life.
