Wabash National Corporation recently held a special brunch for active military and veterans among its Lafayette IN-based workforce. The company recognized more than 300 Wabash National associates who have served in a branch of the US military and also presented a gift to the Lafayette Armory and US Army Reserve Center.
“As a proud American company, Wabash National Corporation appreciates the many sacrifices our military personnel, with the support of their families, make every day to keep our country safe,” said Dick Giromini, Wabash National president and chief executive officer. “We are privileged to have over 300 current associates who have served in the military and look forward to formally recognizing them through this event each year and with a permanent Wall of Honor in the process of being installed at our corporate offices.”
He noted that Wabash National donates funding to several organizations that support American troops and military families such as the Wounded Warrior Project and Honor Flight Network.
Guest speakers at the event included Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski and Sergeant First Class Sabol from the Lafayette Armory and US Army Reserve Center.
During the event, Wabash National made a contribution of $1,000 to the Lafayette Armory and US Army Reserve Center, which helps military families maintain the home front while a mother or father is deployed on active duty. For example, the organization may help with home repair such as leaky faucets or roofs, and other needs to support families and spouses whose loved ones are away.
Brent Yeagy, Wabash National vice-president and US Navy veteran, led the flag-folding ceremony at the brunch. After the formal proceedings, attendees assembled care packages for sons, daughters, and other family members related to Wabash National associates who are serving overseas.
