RoboGrind cleans transport tanks

Feb 1, 2002 12:00 PM

ROBOGRIND is a new tool from Finland designed to clean the interiors of tank containers and tank trucks. It can grind off deposits of epoxy, latex, chlorides, and other deposits, as well as weld defects and discoloration. The cleaning arms fold up so they can fit through a 400-mm (16") manhole. When deployed inside the tank, the RoboGrind will grind the heads, baffles, and cylinder, removing .0002 mm material. Powered by electric motors and pneumatic cylinders, the RoboGrind is controlled by programmable logic controls. It requires about 10 to 12 hours to grind a 20-ft tank container. Sales manager Mikko Mantere is shown with the live demonstration at Trailer 2001. RoboGrind, Plassinkie 37B, FIN-85100 Katajoki, Finland.
