Nov 1, 2000 12:00 PM, TRAILER/BODY BUILDERS STAFF

Mexican truck maker Consorcio G Grupo Dina has formally filed charges against Western Star Truck Holdings Inc with the International Arbitration Court of the International Chamber of Commerce. Dina is suing Western Star for breach of contract, and is asking $110 million in damages. After it was acquired by Freightliner LLC, Western Star canceled its supplier agreement to market Dina's Class 7 Solar Series product line in North America.

The lawsuit also includes claims for the premature and unilateral cancellation of the contract, outstanding payments due for vehicles sold to Western Star, payment for damages resulting from the breach of contract, loss of interest on corporate capital, and arbitration and legal costs associated with the legal action.
