ASE Career File Centralizes Service Technician Records

Jan 1, 2001 12:00 PM, TRAILER/BODY BUILDERS STAFF

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) has introduced the ASE Career File, an industry-wide, national database-driven resource for automotive service technicians. The resource consists of a directory of automotive in-service training providers, a course catalog of training courses, a centralized database of automotive technician training histories, and a consolidated transcript service for technicians. The ASE Career File is designed to enhance a technician's development with a central location for training and certification achievements at www.asecareerfile.org.

The ASE Career File features a web-based online directory of automotive in-service training providers available to all technicians, who will be able to search the course catalog section of training offerings. Links to participating training providers' web sites also are available. Training providers are now able to build the ASE Career File database by loading identification, course, and technician training activity information.

After the database is built (within 12 months), the ASE Career File will offer personalized transcripts for technicians. Like a college transcript, the ASE Career File transcript will be available only upon written request.
