American Honda achieves sales record

American Honda Motor Co sales rose 3.3% during 2002 to a record of 1,247,834 units while setting eight records including light-truck sales for Honda and Acura divisions and the sale of the world's first fuel-cell car certified for commercial use.

Record December 2002 sales of 100,736, up 10.4% compared with 2001, were also achieved, according to figures released by American Honda. The company said it sold 409,231 light trucks in 2002, a 33% increase over 2001. It said its Honda division total light-truck sales of 356,276 was a record, topping the 266,857 sold in 2000.
