Alcoa Inc Plans to Construct Cast-Aluminum Rod Facility

Dec 1, 2000 12:00 PM, TRAILER/BODY BUILDERS STAFF

Alcoa Inc will expand into the cast-aluminum rod market by building a new production facility in early 2001, located close to the main consumer markets in the southern United States. The plant will be in production within 12 months, according to Alcoa Engineered Products President Ronee Hagen.

The facility will have the capability to produce cast rod in sizes tailored to forged and impact-extruded applications in the automotive, industrial, and consumer markets. The cast-rod product will enhance availability of standard and specialty rod and bar, standard and custom profiles, seamless and structural pipe and tube, and drawn seamless tube.
