AEM facilitates visit by Chinese delegation

The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) facilitated the visit of a delegation of key figures from a massive Chinese water infrastructure project to help AEM members connect with decisionmaking equipment purchasers and specifiers working on the project. The United States Department of Commerce Trade Development Agency (TDA) financed the delegation's visit.

AEM has had a fully staffed office in Beijing, China, since 1997 to help its members bring their products to the growing Chinese equipment market.

The delegation visit was AEM's most recent effort to bring its members into contact with developers and state-owned contractors involved with this phase of the Chinese water diversion project, which has an estimated cost of $11 billion and is expected to require $1.6 billion worth of equipment purchases. The three-phase project will route 13-14 billion cubic meters of water each year from water-rich southern China to dry regions in northern China.

The delegation spent nearly two weeks in the United States, meeting with AEM member manufacturers and touring equipment manufacturing facilities. The group also took part in a TDA business briefing in Chicago IL to tell US equipment manufacturing and construction technology companies about the business opportunities the water project creates for them.
