Peterbilt boosts production on two models

Apr 1, 2011 12:00 PM

Peterbilt Motors Company has increased production of the new Model 382 and Model 587 at its truck manufacturing facility in Denton TX.

The Model 382 is powered by a 2010 Cummins ISL9 engine. An improved Electronic Control Module (ECM) and enhanced air flow allow the ISL9 to run stronger and with greater responsiveness than previous engines. Ratings range from 345-380 hp with a maximum 1300 lb-ft of torque.

The Model 587 is available with two sleepers or in a day cab configuration. This model is standard with the 2010 Paccar MX engine with 380-485 horsepower range. The engine uses fractured cap technology in both the connecting rods and main bearing caps to provide high shearing strength that result in a wide horsepower range and longer torque and power curves for more efficient operation.
