Gene Kohler Sr., past president of the National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA), died Jan. 11, 2008. He was 80. President of Kranz Body Company (St. Louis MO) from 1971-1997, Kohler was succeeded as president of the company by his son Gene Kohler Jr. The elder Kohler was president of the NTEA in 1972 and president of the Truck Body Equipment Association in 1984. The two Kohlers were the first father-son duo to serve as presidents of the NTEA, with Gene Jr. served as its president in 1995. Gene Sr. was married to Connie for 58 years, and they had 15 children. He is also survived by 48 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
