Cloos Robotic Welding two decades young

Jul 1, 2005 12:00 PM

Founder Walter Cloos saw great potential in the North American market when he established Cloos Robotic Welding Inc in June 1985. Solid growth through two decades is a testament to a team of dedicated employees that have overseen planned expansion to new facilities in Schaumburg IL & Monterrey, Mexico.

Already a leader in welding technology in Europe with more than 60 years of success, Cloos brought advanced turn-key arc welding systems to American agricultural and construction equipment manufacturers.

“We were assembling, programming, validating, and installing our first generation of 8-bit robotic controlled systems,” said Hartmut Boegel, vice-president and general manager. "In the 20 years since then, we have introduced five generations of advanced robotic controllers. We are on our third generation of robot arms, which have progressed from DC to AC servo drives and from incremental encoders to absolute positioning measurement and control."

Cloos pioneered pulsed arc welding technology in the United States and also introduced high-speed, two-wire MIG tandem welding technology.
