MGS Inc has completed an acquisition of Maxey Companies, located in Fort Collins, Colorado.
The acquisition marks the combination of two multi-generational companies that began in the 1960s, each of which is headed by a former president of the National Association of Trailer Manufacturers (NATM).
MGS Incorporated is a growing national enterprise that started in 1962. The company manufactures specialty equipment trailers and related products for the OEM, military, and public utility industries. It also has a large retail business for fleet, small business, and homeowner markets.
“This has been part of our long-term planning process,” says Andy Gehman, MGS president. “After working with Maxey Companies for years, we know we have found our perfect match for manufacturing and trailer sales on the western side of the country.”
“Maxey has been very close with MGS for years,” says Carl Maxey, president of Maxey Manufacturing. “We have similar goals and long-term plans, and I see nothing but great results by adding Maxey to MGS Inc. We have a large, loyal customer base in the greater Colorado region, including the West Coast, and I think they will benefit in many ways”.
Maxey Companies, in business since 1969, is known for its retail trailer sales and parts operations, along with its truck upfitting services. Maxey is also known as a manufacturer of specialized trailers.
Carl Maxey served on the board of NATM for seven years, including six with Gehman. When Maxey stepped down as president of the association, Gehman took office.
The Maxey name will remain, as will its president.
“We will build MGS trailers right along with ours,” he says. “And MGS will produce Maxey trailers at their plant in Danver, Pennsylvania.”
Carl Maxey has no plans to leave the industry.
“I plan to be here for many years,” he says. “I’m committed to this new venture, and immediately bought MGS stock when the sale was finalized. Both companies believe that this is a very good fit. We look forward to what the future holds.” ♦
