Volvo Deliveries Up 44% in May

Total deliveries from the Volvo Group’s truck operations in May amounted to 13,577 vehicles—an increase of 44% compared with the year-earlier period. Compared to April this year, the deliveries increased by 4%.
Globally, Volvo Trucks deliveries in May were 88% higher than in the corresponding month last year. Compared to April this year the deliveries increased by 15 %. The deliveries in Europe increased by 67% in May compared to the corresponding period last year and in Asia the increase was 268%. Volvo Trucks is gradually increasing production from a low level to respond to the increased demand in these regions. In May, deliveries in South America increased by 80% compared to the same month last year. The demand in North America is gradually improving from a low level.
Mack’s deliveries in May totaled 714 vehicles, down 17% compared with the year-earlier period. Compared to April this year the deliveries decreased by 12 %. Customer response to, and interest in, the EPA2010 trucks being offered by Mack and Volvo Trucks North America continues to be very positive. With large competitor inventories of pre-EPA10 engines finally drawn down, and a steadily growing acceptance for the well proven Volvo Group SCR technology in the market, the competitive landscape is increasingly favorable for the Group’s two North American heavy-duty truck brands moving forward.
Deliveries from Renault Trucks in May increased by 8% compared with the year-earlier period. Compared to April this year the deliveries increased by 4 %. In the medium duty segment, the Renault Midlum noted the best performance among the different ranges during May and also during the year-to-date period. In the heavy duty segment, deliveries of the Renault Premium Route have increased by 10% year-to-date.
