Mack, Volvo, engines get EPA's thumbs-up

Jan 1, 2007 12:00 PM

The United States Environmental Protection Agency has certified Mack Trucks Inc's MP engine series to the 2007 emissions standards that went into effect Jan 1, 2007.

Mack is using a combination of exhaust gas recirculation technology and a diesel particulate filter to satisfy the new requirements, which reduce allowable levels of nitrogen oxides by a minimum of 50% and particulates by a minimum of 90% from today's levels.

The EPA also has certified that Volvo Trucks North America's new D11, D13, and D16 engines for 2007 will meet new lower emissions requirements for January 1.
