Under a recently signed multi-year agreement, Navistar Engine Group will supply an advanced V-8 turbodiesel to Capacity of Texas Inc, a maker of terminal tractors for cargo-handling applications. Beginning in autumn 2009, MaxxForce 7 engines will power Capacity brand terminal tractors.

“Navistar is pleased that Capacity chose our technologically advanced MaxxForce 7 to power its industry-leading terminal tractors,” said Eric Tech, vice president and general manager, Navistar Engine Group. “The MaxxForce 7 will provide Capacity customers with the most powerful, durable, and environmentally friendly engines available in the market.”

The V-8 diesels, made by Navistar in Huntsville AL, will be fully compliant with applicable Environmental Protection Agency emissions standards. Capacity will offer two MaxxForce 7 models, one rated at 215 hp with 560 lb-ft torque, and one rated at 230 hp with 620 lb-ft torque. The terminal tractors will be manufactured at Capacity's Longview TX plant.

Capacity terminal tractors are used to move freight in ports, rail yards, warehouses, and distribution centers across North America and around the world.

Based in Longview, Capacity is a wholly owned subsidiary of Collins Industries Inc, a maker of ambulances, Type “A” school buses, and construction and industrial sweepers. For more information, visit www.CapacityTexas.com.
