Medium and Heavy Truck Sales Up 23% in November

Medium and heavy truck sales were up 23% in November over the same period a year ago and down 7% from last month, according to figures compiled by Wards Communications.

Dealers sold 32,516 trucks with GVW ratings above 10,000 pounds during the month, up from November 2009 (26,421) and down from October 2010 (33,643).

Compared with November 2009, Class 8 trucks were up 8% (9,614, compared to 8,861). Class 7 sales were 3,193, down less than 1% from the 3,180 sold.

For the year, truck dealers have sold 336,824 trucks with GVW ratings above 10,000 pounds, up 22% from 276,286 in 2009. Class 8 sales have been 95,410, a 15% increase from the same period last year (83,241). Class 7 sales have been down 3% (34,630, compared to 35,722). Total sales of all classes have been up 19%, from 4,609,411 to 5,483,505.

Every class has been up, except for Class 7 and Class 4 (down 35%). The biggest increase has been in Class 3 (44%).
