Medium and Heavy Truck Sales Up 3% in February

Medium and heavy truck sales were up 3% in June over the same period a year ago and 2% from the previous month.

Medium and heavy truck sales were up 3% in June over the same period a year ago and 2% from the previous month, according to figures compiled by Wards Communications.

Dealers sold 43,454 trucks with GVW ratings above 10,000 pounds during the month, up from February 2013 (42,331) and January 2014 (42,429).

Compared with February 2013, Class 8 trucks were up 11% (13,949, compared to 12,546). Class 7 sales were 3,266, down 3% from the 3,377.

For the year, truck dealers have sold 85,883 trucks with GVW ratings above 10,000 pounds, up 3% from 83,324 in 2012. Class 8 sales have been 28,095, a 9% increase from the same period last year (25,704). Class 7 sales have been down slightly (7,134, compared to 7,157).

Total sales of all classes have been up 4%, from 1,155,763 to 1,207,528.

Every class has been up, except for Class 2, 3, and 6. The biggest increase has been in Class 8.
