Hino to Open Truck Assembly Plant in West Virginia

Aug 20, 2007 2:00 PM

Hino Motors Manufacturing U.S.A. Inc. will assemble medium and heavy-duty trucks in Williamstown, West Virginia. The new operation will be the first assembly plant for Hino Motors in the U.S.

The company will invest $8.6 million to upgrade a 194,000-square-foot plant and install manufacturing equipment. Operations are expected to begin in November 2007.

Senator Jay Rockefeller, who has a long history of attracting Japanese investment to the state, said, “It’s remarkable to think that in just 15 short years, our state has become home to an automobile parts manufacturer, a sheet-metal stamping plant, a producer of oxygen sensors, ignition coils and sparkplugs, and now a commercial truck assembly plant in Williamstown.”
