Ford reintroduces stripped chassis, gas-powered ambulances

Ford is returning to two areas where the company previously offered products: commercial stripped chassis and gasoline-powered ambulances.
The 2011 F-59 Super Duty commercial stripped chassis will be offered in multiple wheelbase lengths and gross vehicle weight ratings. Plans call for three wheelbases — 158, 178 and 208 inches — and 16,000-, 19,500-, and 22,000-pound GVW ratings.
The F-59 features a 6.8-liter Triton V-10 gasoline engine, five-speed automatic overdrive transmission, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes and premium shock absorbers. It will be available in early 2010.

The ambulance prep package will be offered on the E-Series Super Duty powered by the Triton V-10. Included in the package will be an auxiliary heater and air conditioning connector package, available limited-slip rear axle, 225-amp alternator, and transmission cooler.
The lower weight of the gasoline engine provides almost 600 pounds of additional payload capacity. The F-59 will be available for order this summer.
