Environmental Regulations Present HD Truck Market with New Revenue Opportunities

Mar 12, 2008 12:57 PM

The current emission reduction regulatory environment presents heavy-duty truck market participants an opportunity to pursue new revenue streams by developing innovative solutions, according to Frost & Sullivan’s Automotive and Transportation Group.

The environmental regulations offer opportunities for market participants to introduce hardware systems that reduce emissions or to develop services and applications that enable compliance monitoring. The impending regulations act as a key market driver for developers and marketers of emerging technologies in commercial vehicle powertrain and after-treatment markets.

“Never before has the North American heavy-duty truck industry faced a complex regulatory environment synthesized by a collection of disparate and progressively strengthening environment-focused regulations,” notes Frost & Sullivan Program Manager Sandeep Kar. “The impending regulations incumbent on the industry represent issues ranging from diesel engine emissions to idling. Regardless of which side of the industry’s spectrum a company is placed, the fact remains that impending regulations require it to focus on development and introduction of products and solutions that ensure compliance while justifying the return on investment made by fleets and end-users.”

The Automotive and Transportation Group at Frost & Sullivan will address the topic at its 2008 Quarterly Analyst Briefing Presentation on the North American heavy-duty truck industry regulatory environment to be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at 12:00 pm PDT.
