Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) announced it has extended its partnership with Allison Transmission, Inc. through a multi-year, long-term agreement.

Allison Automatics will be the exclusive automatic transmission installed in all DTNA product lines -- Freightliner, Western Star, Freightliner Customer Chassis and Thomas Built Buses -- and will work in conjunction with engines from DTNA’s sister company, Detroit Diesel Corporation. The formal partnership provides superior engine/transmission integration in areas such as fuel efficiency and future product offerings.

“Allison Automatics are the benchmark in the medium and heavy-duty truck industry,” said Mark Lampert, senior vice president, Sales and Marketing, Daimler Trucks North America. “Our commitment to Allison Transmission provides exceptional transmission performance and value to our customers and will strengthen our competitive position.”

Freightliner Trucks and Western Star Truck Sales, Inc. recently announced plans to release Allison Optimized packages across a variety of vocational vehicles. Allison Optimized packages offer a holistic approach to configuring a vehicle’s driveline that delivers the best combination of performance, reliability, durability, fuel efficiency and driveline protection for a specific vocation/duty cycle, all within a streamlined spec’ing process.

“In partnering with Allison Transmission, Daimler Trucks North America will offer their customers the full complement of Allison’s productivity, efficiency and performance features and benefits developed during years of experience in medium and heavy-duty vocational markets,” said Jim Wanaselja, Vice President of North American Marketing, Sales and Service for Allison Transmission.
