Effective March 3, 2000, Wayne Engineering Corp will resume full responsibility for the sales and service of the Curbtender automated side loader. Leach Co and Wayne are in a transition to dissolve their five-year-old distribution partnership. Wayne first introduced the Curbtender to the waste collection marketplace in 1978. Since then, the Cedar Falls IA-based manufacturer has continued to engineer and manufacture the Curbtender, as well as a line of small-body AlleyCat rear loaders. In 1995, Leach partnered with Wayne to provide exclusive sales and service support for the Curbtender throughout the United States and Canada. According to management at both companies, that arrangement will soon be changing.

The firms have agreed to a strategic transition over the next several months whereupon all sales and service responsibilities for the Curbtender will return to Wayne. Both companies will continue to partner in maintaining service, parts availability, and customer support for all Curbtender customers. Sales of Curbtender units will continue through Leach until the March 3 official transfer to Wayne.
