Mega Fabrication Inc (MegaFab) of Hutchinson KS has purchased W A Whitney Co from Bellvue WA-based Esterline Technologies. Whitney is in Rockford IL and will continue operations in the same location it has been for 97 years.

This merger puts the Whitney brand of products in the same family as Piranha (ironworkers, press brakes, and shears) and Bertsch (plate bending rolls and section rolls).

Piranha has been a leader in hydraulic ironworkers for more than 30 years. Since 1997, it has built and distributed its line of press brakes and shears. In 2003, MegaFab acquired Bertsch, producer of bending rolls, and has re-established that 125-year-old brand as a market leader.

Products to be marketed by both Whitney and Piranha under the PRO-Series label include Whitney's lines of Plate-LASERs, portable punch presses, CNC fabricators, and the Advantage and Storm plasma cutting machines.
