Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command (TACOMRI), Rock Island IL, has awarded Vanair Mfg a contract to provide three United States Marine Corp units with Vanair Stealth70 underhood air compressors.

According to TACOMRI, the Stealth70s will be installed on shop-equipment, contact maintenance trucks, which are, specifically, High-Mobility, Multi-purpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWVs).

The first unit has been delivered to the Rock Island base in February; subsequent units will go to Camp Lejeunne NC and Camp Pendleton CA. Either the HMMWVs will be transported to Vanair for Stealth70 installation or Vanair will send one of its technicians to the US Marine Corp bases for on-site installation. A Vanair representative will travel to each of the three locations to provide personnel with training on the Stealth70's capabilities and safe operating practices.

Under terms of the contract, the HMMWV Stealth70-equipped trucks will undergo a trial period to test the performance and effectiveness of the underhood air compressors. Upon successful completion of the test period, the Stealth70 will be available to other service arms within the US Department of Defense.
