Revised and Reissued Recommended Practices:

  • RP #9-03 Location of Lighting Devices for Trailers — revised April 2003, originally issued July 1968. This RP was prepared to serve as a practical guide for positioning lighting devices on truck trailers more than 80" in overall width in accordance with current Department of Transportation regulations. $60.

  • RP #47-03 Testing, Rating and Labeling Platform and Van Trailers for Cargo Securement Capability — revised April 2003, originally issued September 1962. This RP sets test procedures and general performance specifications for tiedown anchor points, front-end structures, and sidewall structures. $53.

  • RP #67-03 Rating of Platform Trailer Floors for Lift Truck Loading — revised April 2003, originally issued August 1984. Intended for determining and describing strength of floor systems for platform trailer construction in terms of the magnitude of lift truck front axle load that can safely be carried. $30.

  • RP #68-03 Urethane Foam Flammability and Safety Measures — Safety Sign/Label — reissued April 2003, originally issued September 1984. Serves as a guide for a safety sign/label to be installed on truck trailers and containers regarding urethane foam flammability and safety measures. $10.

  • RP #90-03 Side Turn Signal Lamps for Long Trailers — reissued April 2003, originally issued June 1993. This RP alerts motorist of impending turns by tractors pulling long semitrailers by recommending side turn signal lamps on trailers longer than 45 feet (13.72 meters). $27.

Revised and Reissued Technical Bulletins:

  • TB #87 Loading Hanging Meat in Meat Rail Trailers — revised April 2003, originally issued June 1980. Provides guidance for loading hanging meat in meat rail trailers so vehicle stability will be maximized and rollover hazard reduced. $10.

  • TB #97 Urethane Foam Flammability and Safety Measures — revised April 2003, originally issued September 1984. Defines minimum precautionary measures to avoid fire and smoke when repairing foamed trailers. $10.

Revised Technical Bulletin:

  • TB #103 Liquid and Vapor Control During Loading/Unloading — revised April 2003, originally issued October 1986. Advises operators of the potential fire hazard from spills and health hazard from vapors associated with loading and unloading MC307 and DOT407 tanks and recommends ways to alleviate these potential problems. $10.
