Trumpf Inc, a subsidiary of the German-based Trumpf Group, plans to expand its North American business. The plans are designed to increase manufacturing operations in North America and strengthen the company's laser business in the market. A $1.78 billion international company, the Trumpf Group is a world leader in industrial lasers and production technology.

As part of a multimillion-dollar expansion plan, Trumpf Inc will build a laser research, development, manufacturing, and demonstration facility in Farmington CT. To meet increasing demand for industrial lasers, the new factory will produce lasers for cutting, welding, and marking sheet metal and other materials. The planning for the new 30,000- to 40,000-square-foot building has already begun, and this stage is expected to be finished within the next 12 months.

The company will also invest in capital machinery for existing production facilities and increase its focus on advanced laser technology and more sophisticated manufacturing in Connecticut.
