The National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA) has released its new United States federal lighting guide kit, with information on compliance with lighting requirements in Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 108. This kit consists of a 143-page US lighting guide booklet and a laminated US federal lighting guide wall chart. The spiral-bound booklet contains:

  • A copy of FMVSS 108.

  • A copy of Subpart B (Lighting Devices, Reflectors, and Electrical Equipment) of 49 CFR Part 393 (Parts and Accessories Necessary for Safe Operation) of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.

  • Links to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's online interpretations of FMVSS 108.

  • Lighting identification code charts.

  • A compilation of articles related to motor vehicle lighting and FMVSS 108 compliance published by the NTEA.

The 19" × 25" color wall chart illustrates federal lighting requirements for six truck body types, a truck-tractor, and a trailer. It includes specific requirements for location, height, color, and number of lights, as well as individual vehicle illustrations indicating lamp color and location.
