Strong deliveries in January for Volvo Trucks

Volvo Trucks delivered 7,560 trucks during January, a 31 percent increase over the same period in 2004. A very strong demand for heavy trucks was notable for the North American market, where deliveries increased by 71 percent to 2,487 units.

The positive trend from the year end continued during the first month of 2005. Deliveries in Europe increased by 12 percent to 2,961 trucks.

The demand for heavy trucks in North America continued to be very strong primarily owing to increased transportation and the haulage companies’ need to renew their vehicle fleets. In the United States, deliveries were up 81 percent to 2,289 trucks.

Compared with the corresponding period in 2004, deliveries rose 12 percent in South America and 46 percent in Asia, including the Middle East.
