Seneca Tank, based in Des Moines IA, has signed an agreement with Ruan Transportation Management Systems, also of Des Moines, to furnish Driver Authorization

Seneca Tank, based in Des Moines IA, has signed an agreement with Ruan Transportation Management Systems, also of Des Moines, to furnish Driver Authorization System (DAS) security devices for Ruan's trucks that haul hazardous materials, according to Seneca. Seneca is a distributor for the system produced by Base Engineering Inc of New Brunswick, Canada.

The DAS system prevents unauthorized vehicle drive-away while the truck is sitting or the engine is idling. Attempting to move the vehicle without entering the correct authorization code stalls the engine.

Tony Chrestman, president of Ruan, has testified before Congress, calling for help in tackling challenges facing the trucking industry in the wake of the terrorist attacks Sept 11, 2001.
